What are you really depriving yourself of?

IMG_1903Mary has decided not to eat carbs anymore.
She figured out that her body doesn’t like them.
She’s done two mindbodysoul cleanses with me,
and she has made a decision to honour her body and feed it high octane fuel foods.
These are foods that, when she eats them, she loses weight, she feels energetic, she’s in a good mood, and she feels less puffy.

She’s concerned that she will feel deprived if she doesn’t eat carbs.

We talked about deprivation.

I asked her to flip her thinking – by eating carbs what was she depriving herself of?

There was quite a list:
health
vitality
energy
lightness
a thin body
self-care

Mary describes this conversation as a turning point.

True deprivation happened when she did eat foods that her body did not tolerate.
Sluggishness, weight gain, indigestion, headaches – all of these deprive her of living her best, most alive life.
